Conor English

Conor English is a filmmaker based in the Midlands of Ireland, whose work is deeply rooted in his immediate locality, focusing on the people and places around him. In 2023, he was awarded the Westmeath Arts Office Filmmaker Award, receiving €10,000 to produce his documentary Roma, which is now set to enter the film festival circuit. In August 2023, he directed his first feature documentary, ShadowTown: Is ait an mac an saol, which is currently set to release 2025. The film is a unique blend of surrealist, non-narrative documentary filmmaking and musical performance, capturing the transformative energy that unfolds when the monster of Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann descends upon a small Midlands town.
